Children's glasses face a harder life than adult ones, and they matter more. A child whose glasses have slipped down their nose is looking over the top of them, which means the correction is doing nothing at all. For a child being treated for amblyopia, that is not a minor inconvenience.
Polycarbonate lenses are the default and effectively non negotiable: they are impact resistant, lightweight, and carry built in UV protection. Frames need spring hinges or flexible materials, and they need a bridge fit that actually suits a child's nose, which is shaped differently from an adult's.
Free adjustments matter more here than anywhere. Children's glasses get bent regularly and children grow, so frequent adjustment is normal rather than a sign of a poor frame.

Let them choose the frame within the options that suit their prescription. A child who picked their own glasses wears them. Comfort matters too, because a badly fitting pair gets taken off.
How often do children's glasses need replacing?
Prescriptions change and children grow, so annually is common. Damage is covered under the warranty, which takes the anxiety out of it.
Are expensive frames worth it for children?

My child keeps losing or breaking them.
