Frame Selection and Fitting
Frame fitting positions the lens correctly in front of your eye. Bridge fit, temple length, pantoscopic tilt and vertex distance all affect optical performance, which is why a well fitted frame sees better than a badly fitted one.
A frame does one job optically: it holds the lens in the right place relative to your pupil. Every millimetre it sits off changes how the lens performs, and progressive lenses are unforgiving about it because their corridors are only a few millimetres wide.
That is what an optician is doing when a frame is being adjusted. Bridge fit determines how high the lens sits. Temple length determines whether it stays there. Pantoscopic tilt affects how you look through the lower portion. Vertex distance, the gap between lens and eye, changes effective power at higher prescriptions.
None of this is measurable from a photograph, which is the honest limitation of buying frames online. It is also why free adjustments matter: frames shift with wear, and a frame that fitted in March may need setting straight by October.

Questions and answers
How do I know a frame fits?
It should sit level without pinching the bridge, the temples should follow the head without pressing behind the ears, the lenses should not touch your lashes, and it should stay put when you look down. An optician checks all of that.
Can I bring frames I already own?
Often yes, depending on the frame's condition and whether it can take your prescription. Bring it in and the office will assess it.
How often should frames be adjusted?
Whenever they stop sitting right, which for most people is a few times a year. It is free on frames bought here and takes a few minutes.
Why did my online glasses not work?
Usually pupillary distance or fitting height being slightly off. It matters a little for single vision and a great deal for progressives.
