Daily disposables are worn once and thrown away. There is no cleaning, no solution and no case, and every insertion uses a fresh sterile lens, which makes them the most hygienic option available.
The hygiene argument for dailies is simple and strong. Most lens related complications trace back to lens care: contaminated solution, an old case, a lens worn past its replacement date. Remove the care routine entirely and most of that risk goes with it.
They also suit specific groups particularly well. Allergy sufferers benefit because allergens never accumulate on the lens surface over weeks. Occasional wearers avoid paying for a monthly supply they will not finish. Children and teenagers benefit from a system with no cleaning steps to forget. Travellers avoid carrying solution.
The trade is cost. For someone wearing lenses every day, all day, dailies work out more expensive than monthlies over a year.

Are dailies really healthier?
For most wearers, yes. A fresh sterile lens each day removes the deposit build up and solution contamination that cause a large share of lens related problems.
Can I re-wear a daily lens?
No. They are made thinner and are not designed to survive cleaning and storage. Re-wearing one meaningfully raises infection risk.
Are they available for astigmatism and reading?
Yes. Daily toric and daily multifocal designs are both widely available now, which was not true a decade ago.
Are they good for children?
Very. There is no cleaning routine to get wrong, which removes the main source of risk for a young wearer, and specific daily multifocal designs also serve as myopia control.
