About Youngtown
Youngtown was the first age restricted retirement community in the United States and, although that restriction was lifted decades ago, it retains a substantial older population in a very small footprint. Founded in 1954, it predates Sun City by six years and was the model that the larger age restricted communities were built on. The age restriction was struck down in 1998, and the town has since taken in younger families while keeping a substantial retired population.
