Corneal topography
A three dimensional map built from over 20,000 points across the corneal surface.
Corneal topography projects a pattern of rings onto the front surface of the eye and measures how that pattern distorts, building a three dimensional map from over 20,000 surface points. Every specialty lens fitted here starts from that map. It is also the test that catches keratoconus early, because the cone shaped steepening shows on a topography map long before it shows on an eye chart.
What it finds
- Keratoconus and its progression
- Irregular astigmatism
- Corneal warpage from lens wear
- Post surgical corneal shape
- Scleral and orthokeratology lens design
